The Kaduna state government has announced the restoration of telecommunications networks in parts of the state initially closed since early October.
The commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, told reporters in Kaduna on Friday that “security agencies have notified the government that telecommunications services may be restored.”
Telecommunications networks had been shut down in the state in an attempt to control banditry and other insecurity problems in the state.
According to Aruwan, the shutdown of the telecommunications network was highly successful.
The Commissioner assured residents that the restoration of full services would be felt in the coming days.
He added: “The Kaduna government regrets the inconvenience that residents may have gone through.”
Aruwan explained that other measures are maintained such as the prohibition of the movement of motorcycles throughout the state, the sale of fuel in cans, the weekly markets and others in some areas of the local government.
